Lake Nasser:
Banks of the Lake Nasser. Nubia
is generally synonymous with Southern Egypt,
that is the Low Nubia (from the first cataract to the second). High Nubie
extends,
in Sudan, to the fourth cataract. The meeting of the two provinces
constitutes
a geographical and human entity which, in Antiquity was submitted by turns
to the Egyptians, independent or dominating of Egypt. It is almost the
totality
of Nubia which, on 500 km is immersed. We call New Nubia the area, in the
North
of Aswan, where were reinstalled two thirds of the 60 000 expropriated
Nubians.
in the west of the Nile extend large dunes resting on the Nubian sandstones.
In the east, volcanic and crystalline massifs rise towards the Red Sea,
exceeding
2000 metres.
